“Any experience of inconvenience that tourists have in Israel will cause them to simply travel to other countries.”
My quote from an article published a few days ago in the Israeli newspaper “Globes”, in which I review the situation of the tourism sector in the past year. (Here is the full article)
Time to join the tourism industry
I was asked to summarize the last year in the Israeli tourism industry in a few sentences and my answer mostly focused on what happened. See, tourism in Israel basically vanished over night (as in most places in the world) by March 2020. However, unlike in most places, we had additional issues to deal with – local lockdowns (3) which made local tourism impossible, inner turmoil (Gaza, Temple Mount etc.) and Cyber attacks on any site that has the word “Israel” in it.
Israel must make entrance to tourism EASIER was my main claim. The serological tests at the airport, quarantine and checks are making this into a costly hassle many will choose to avoid.
In addition, I was asked to provide insight about transitions in the workplace. Many are leaving this industry and when we return to full capacity, things will be challenging.
There is no better time to join the tourism industry than today. As some leave, new opportunities will present themselves to those who stay or join.
