Day 1: The remarkable ruins of Jerash

Start the day by crossing the border via the Sheikh Hussein Bridge over the River Jordan. The meet and assist service will help you move through the border bureaucracy and take you to your guide waiting on the Jordanian side.

A roughly 90 minute drive will take you to Jerash. One of the 10 decapolis cities mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible, it’s one of the best-preserved sites for Roman ruins in the world. Your guide will bring the ancient streets to life as you marvel at the stunning remains.

You’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch and then drive down to your luxury accommodation at the Kempinski Dead Sea Ishtar Resort. Soak and float in the saline waters on a private beach while you relax in the incredible desert scenery, before enjoying dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Day 2: Jordan as a holy land

After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, you’ll check out and drive a short distance to the site traditionally associated with the baptism of Jesus. Discover the history of this location and experience the waters of the famed River Jordan.

Your next stop is nearby: Mount Nebo. Believed to be the place where God showed Moses the promised land before he died, it offers stunning views of the Judean Desert with Jericho, Jerusalem and the Dead Sea all laid out before your eyes.

This is the traditional site associated with Moses’ final moments and you’ll visit the Byzantine church where he is believed to have died.

You’ll then continue to Madaba, known as “The City of Mosaics”. After enjoying a local lunch, you’ll visit the famed Church of St. George. Dating to the 6th Century, its floor contains one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the region – a large ancient pilgrim map to the Holy Land. See this incredible map in its original location and understand how archaeologists were able to use it to identify and locate a variety of different holy sites.

After a brief visit to the local School of Mosaics, which preserves the art form locally, you’ll drive down south to Petra where you’ll check into your accommodation at the Old Village Resort for dinner.

Optional: Petra by night

Experience an incredible atmosphere as you wander the famed ruins of Petra by candlelight. With over 1000 candles lighting up the carved rock face, this will be a truly unforgettable evening.

Day 3: The red rocks of Petra

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll check out and then begin the day by exploring the legendary red city of Petra. This UNESCO world heritage site is considered one of the seven new wonders of the world. Built over 2000 years ago as a capital for the Nabbatean trading empire, you’ll find monumental facades and spectacular buildings sculpted right out of the solid rock.

You’ll start at the main gate and you’ll be guided through the treasury (made famous by the movie Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade), the Street of Facades, the theatre, all the way down to the nymphaeum and the Qaser El- Bint temple.  You’ll then have some free time to explore independently.

Returning to the main gate, you’ll have lunch before driving to the wild landscape of Wadi Rum. Enjoy a camel ride to get into the full desert Bedouin experience, before continuing to your accommodation at the Aicha Memories Luxury Campsite for dinner.

Day 4: Desert discovery in Wadi Rum

You’ll be surprised how good a breakfast you can have in the middle of the desert! After eating, you’ll check out and be taken to your jeep to start exploring Wadi Rum.

Made famous after featuring extensively in movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars and Dune, this is one of the most stunning desert landscapes on the planet. Towering castle-like mountains and beautifully coloured cliffs can be seen in every direction. Experience the magic of the sand dunes and discover ancient inscriptions, rocky formations and natural bridges.

After the jeep ride, you’ll have a farewell lunch in either Wadi Rum or Aqaba and then will drive down to the Arava border crossing where you’ll be met and accompanied as you return back to Israel.
